AMMAN — Lower House Speaker AtefTarawneh on Sunday criticised the international community’s silence on the killing of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, saying that the US-led West is applying double standards in handling Israel’s ongoing aggression on the costal enclave.
Tarawneh also expressed dismay at the international community’s reluctance to stop the Israeli crimes against unarmed civilians in Gaza.
He added that the House has sent memos to the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and the Euro-Mediterranean Parliamentary Assembly to take the necessary legal procedures to prosecute Israel at the International Criminal Court over war crimes.
He also called for intensified efforts to freeze Israel’s membership in the IPU.
